Source: Covington Republican 9 Feb 1921

Thomas A. Glascock, farmer and cattle buyer, who was one of the most widely known citizens of this county was taken suddenly ill Friday night at his home on 3rd Street in Covington. Medical aid failed to relieve him and he became rapidly worse. Mrs. Glascock and Miss Laverne who were visiting in Florida were summoned at once and hurried home, but failed to arrive in time to bid husband and father goodbye. He passed away about 2 o'clock Monday afternoon and his wife and daughter reached Covington early Tuesday morning. The immediate cause of death was uremic poisoning. The funeral services were held at the family residence on 3rd St with Rev. OW McGaughey officiating. The spacious Glascock home was crowded with sorrowing relatives and friends from all over the county and beyond, in addition to the prominent citizens of Covington. All that was mortal of Thomas Glascock lay in the beautiful metallic casket, surrounded by magnificient floral tributes. He looked as natural as when in full health and seemed to be quietly sleeping. On the 25th of November 1878 he was united in marriage to Viola Adkins, daughter of Dr. Jehu Adkins. To this marriage was born one daughter, Laverne Glascock. They spent their early married life on a farm, removing to Covington in the fall of 1891, where they have since resided, and where Mr. Glascock has ever taken an active interest in all civic improvment and in all movements for the moral uplift of the community. He united with the Christian Church at Hillsboro, Indiana when 18 under the ministry of Rev. LC Warren. As a member of the church he was ever faithful, devoted and appreciative. There, as elsewhere, the responsive geniality of his presence was felt. In his early manhood he became an active admirer of the Knights of Pythias. He was admitted to the order and brought much to it in return for the fraternal gifts to him. Gifted with a pleasing personality, happy in his nature, sympathetic in his heart, he presnted a chartacter to the K of P order that was a wealth of fortune and magnet of friendship... Mr. Glascock was a kind, devoted an dindulgent husband and father, leaves a wife, one daughter, a brother and ister and host of near relatives and warm friends to mourn his death. At the conclusion of the service the body of Mr. Glascock was laid to rest in beautiful Mt. Hope cemetery just south of Covington.
