Joseph G. Glascock was born in Boone county, Indiana, on August 15 1851 and died November 2 1931, aged 80 years, 2 months and 18 days. He had been in failing health for several years, the immediate cause of his death being due to a heart attack. He was the son of Francis M. and Angeline Lucas Glascock. A sister, Mrs. Sabina Bear of Hartville, and two half sisters, Mrs. Debbie Surface of Webb city, Missouri, and Mrs. Laura Smith, of Commerce, Oklahoma survive. Two brothers, Will and Perry Glascock, a half brother Charles E. Furr preceded him in death. Mr. Glascock, as a child of four years, moved with his parents from Indiana, to Kansas, making the trip overland in a covered wagon. He remained in the West until he was 18 years of age, at that time coming to Hillsboro, Indiana, where he was employed in the store of his uncles Charles and Nathan T. Lucas. He was married in 1875 to Josephine McBroom who lived but sixteen months. On September 26 1878, he was married to Olive Cade. To this union six children were born--two who died in infancy, and Guy, Enid, Clarence and Edith. Clarence passed away in 1904 and Enid was taken in 1916. When about 20 years of age, "Joe" as he was generally known, united with the church at Scott's Prairie and in 1884 transferred his membership to the First Christian church of Veedersburg. He was a firm believe in God, accepting the Bible without question. He lived the greater part of his life in Veedersburg and vicinity. He loved his family and was loyal and devoted to his friends.
