Fred A. "Shang" Glascock, 79 a life resident of Fountain County died at his home on North College St. Veedersburg at about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday evening March 21, 1961. Mr. Glascock who lived alone, apparently suffered a stroke as he prepared for the evening meal and his death was not discovered until Wednesday morning when a neighbor boy called at the house to perform chores, as had been his custom for some time. Born in Fountain County on Nov 23, 1881 he was the son of Alvah and Emily Fletcher Glascock. He was married to Clara McCalmet in Nov 1912. She preceded him in death in Sept 1955. A son, Gerald, of Shelbyville and a daughter, Mrs. Esther Keeling of Haughton, Michigan the two children of this union both survive. Also surviving are two grandsons and two granddaughters. Mr. Glascock worked as a baker in Veedersburg for over 30 years and later was employed in Lafayette at the Alcoa plant. He was a member of the Christian Church in Veedersburg for a number of years. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday March 25th from the Fishero Funeral Home with the Revs JS Pritchard & Ralph Sell officieating, with burial in Rockfield Cemetery, Veedersburg.
