GILMORE, John R. - WWI

John R. Gilmore, 55, Cayuga, died at Billings Veterans Hospital, Ft. Benjamin Harrison, Ind., Monday at 7:40 p.m. following an illness of bronchial asthma and heart disease. He had been ill for about six years and bedfast the past two. He was removed to the Veterans Hospital in January 1948.

  Mr. Gilmore was born June 25, 1894 in Danville, Ill. to John and Carrie Gilmore. He later moved to Montezuma where he received his education and was employed as a baker. He served in World War I and was overseas about two years.
  On May 26, 1926, he was married to Ura Harrison of Cayuga, who survives. Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Della Gilmore of Detroit, Mich.; and a brother, James, of Terre Haute; with several nieces and nephews. He was a member of the Cayuga American Legion.   Mr. Gilmore’s parents and their family were Kingman residents many years ago. – S&E
