Mrs. Ethel Gilliland, 35 died at her home five miles north of Kingman at 11 a.m. Tuesday Feb 7, 1956 after a two year illness. Born in Pulaski County KY Nov 5, 1920 she was a daughter of Andrew and Dora Arnold Hargis. She was married to Okal Gilliland Jan 11, 1937. She was a member of the Rocklick Baptist Church near Somerset, KY. Surviving besides her husband are two sons, Wendell and Darrell both at home; her parents, residing near Somerset; two sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Whitaker of Cincinnati and Mrs. Elva Riley of Covington, Ind. Also three brothers, Allen Hargis of Cincinnati; Albert and Vestal Hargis both of Somerset and six half-brothers. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Woodrow Funeral Home in Kingman. Burial was in Sears Cemetery at Somerset. – kbz
