Funeral services for William Gerwig, age 94, of Covington, who died early Thursday, March 19, in Culver Hospital in Crawfordsville, were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Hegg Funeral Home. The Rev. Donald Ashley, pastor of the First Methodist Church, officiated and burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery. He lived at the home of his grandson, Jesse Nicholson, for the past eight months. He had been ill for three months. He was born Aug. 22, 1869 in Mt. Vernon. Mr. Gerwig had been a steamboat engineer on the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers and had maintained his engineer's license. Survivors include his grandson and one sister, Miss Ruby Gerwig of Honolulu, Hawaii.  --typed by Walt W
