William Lorn Gerard, 90,
Covington, died Tuesday, March 16, 1999 at 9 p.m. in United Samaritan Medical
Center, Logan Campus, Danville, Ill. He had been in failing health the past
year. Born on November 21, 1908 in Covington, he was the son of the late Jesse
A. and Eva (Hodge) Gerard. He attended Covington schools and resided in the
Covington area his entire lifetime. He had worked as a self-employed painter
before retiring, and he enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and being around
people. Mr. Gerard was first married to Iva May Swaney, he then married Ruth
Delores Pratt Crippin Shuman. She preceded him in death. He again married Iva
May Swaney Gerard. She also preceded him in death. Surviving, are: two
daughters, Wilma De Mose of Danville, Ill. and Jean (Merle) Long of Danville,
Ill.; a stepdaughter, Delores (John) Hayden of Attica; a stepson, David Lee
(Linda) Crippin of Oakley, Calif.; 20 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren;
and one great-great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by three
brothers, Elmon, Walter and Jessie Gerard; and a sister, Ethel Gerard.
Visitation from 12 until time of service at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 19th at
Maus Funeral Home, Attica. Pastor Dale Rhodes will officiate. Interment in Mt.
Hope Cemetery, Covington. – jlr
