Iva Mae Nance Gerard, 76, Route 1, Covington, died at 4:30 p. m. Thursday, July 17, at her home. She was born July 26, 1909, in Sidney, Ill., the daughter of Albert and Minnie Swaney. She married Edmond N. Nance. He preceded her in death. She married William L. Gerard in December 1930. He survives. She was a nurses' aide at the Vermillion County Nursing Home of Danville. She enjoyed gardening, canning and sewing. Surviving, besides her husband, are two daughters, Mrs. Jean Long and Mrs. Wilma DeMoss, both of Danville,; 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Cecil Swaney, Champaign, Ill., and Herman Swaney, Catlin, Ill.; two sisters, Mrs. Gale Fancher, Champaign and Mrs. June Lane, Danville. She also was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and a sister. Funeral services were held at 10 a. m. Monday at Barrick & Son Funeral Home, Danville, with the Rev. Dennis Rogers officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery, Danville.
