Thomas C. Gayler, age 69, who resided on Veedersburg Rt. 1, six miles south of Attica in Millcreek Twp., died at 5:15 p. m. Saturday, Sept. 23, in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Danville, where he had been a patient eight days. Death was attributed to a cerebral hemorrhage. Mr. Gayler was born in Fountain County July 5, 1892, the son of Albert and Minnie Bennett Gayler. He was married in 1914 to Sophia Mae Harper, who preceded him in death in 1928. He attended school in Parke County and had farmed in Warren and Fountain counties. He also had been employed at the Harrison Steel Castings Co., in Attica. He is survived by five sons, Charles of Covington, Chester of Veedersburg, James of Wingate, Rex, serving with the Armed Forces in Germany, and William of Attica; two daughters, Mrs. Donald Kochell of Attica and Mrs. Donald Aynes of Lafayette; 24 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and one brother, Fred of Attica. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Robert, in 1946. Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock this afternoon, Sept. 27, at the Roemer Funeral Home in Attica. The Rev. Donald Wade, pastor of the Covington Methodist Church, officiated and burial was in Riverside Cemetery at Attica. --typed by Walt W
