Sylvester Robert Gayler, 90, died Sunday morning at 8:45 o'clock at his home one mile east of Crawfordsville on US 136. Born near Hillsboro August 10, 1861, he was the son of Thomas M. and Elizabeth Phillips Gayler. On December 28, 1887, he was married to Vessie Jane Parsons. She died Sept 7. Mr. Gayler had been ill for several months with a heart ailment. He was a life elder of First Christian Church. For 24 years he taught school in Fountain County and was the first rural mail carrier in that county. Survivors include two daughters, Miss Glee Gayler, a teacher in Indianapolis schools, and Mrs. Dona Graam of Terre Haute; a brother, George Gayler of McComb, Ill and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Hunt & Son Funeral Home. Rev. Paul Million will be in charge. Burial in Waynetown Maosnic Cemetery. - typed by kbz
