Veedersburg, Ind. - Mrs. Ruth Gayler, 46, of Veedersburg, Route 1, was found dead at her home about 3:30 p.m. Monday (April 2, 1972). Dale Maus, acting Fountain county coroner, said death was due to self-inflicted strangulation. Born May 10, 1925, at Covington, she was the daughter of James and Laura Fulton Watts. She was married Sept 3, 1944, at Joplin, Mo., to Chester L. Gayler, who survives. She attended Covington schools. Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Dianna Sue Fulkerson of Indianapolis, a son, Thomas L. of Kingman, Route 1; three sisters, Miss Wilma Watts of Mishawaka, Mrs. Dorothy Schechter and Mrs Helen Ohl, both of Covington; four brothers, Donald and James, both of Covington, Wilbur of Attica and John in Ohio; and two grandchildren. A brother preceded her in death. Services will be at 1 p.m. EST Wednesday at the Crumley-Williams Funeral Home in Hillsboro, with the Rev. Luther Page officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery at Attica. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.
