Funeral services were held at the Maus Funeral Home for Harold Cecil (Cop) Gayler, 64, who passed away Dec. 5, 1978, at the Community hospital. He had been in failing health for some time. He was born Jan. 6, 1914, in Shawnee Township, Fountain County, the son of Fred Newton and Sarah Jane Marr Gayler. He had been a resident of Attica since 1936, living in Shawnee Twp. prior to that. He was married on April 7, 1935 in Attica to Mary Eleanor Bodine, who survives. A graduate of Attica High School, he was employed at Harrison Steel Casting Co. for 38 years. He was a foreman in the cleaning room there and retired in 1973. He was then employed at the state highway garage at Veedersburg. He was a member of the Attica Methodist Church. Surviving besides his wife are one son, Don of Attica; one daughter, Mrs. Francis (Ann) Behler of Lafayette; one brother, Hubert Gayler of Hillsboro; seven grandchildren and several aunts and uncles. The Rev. Otis Collier and the Rev. Marvin Jones officiated at the services. Burial in Riverside Cemetery. – jlr
