ATTICA, Ind. (CNS) - Fred N. Gayler, 86, former Shawnee Township resident, who had been residing at the Alward Nursing Home for the past 10 years, died at 8:45 a.m. Monday (Nov. 6, 1972) at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lafayette. He had been a patient since Friday. Born in Shawnee Township, Sept. 27, 1886, he was the son of Albert and Minnie Bennett Gayler. He married Sarah Jane Marr in 1913, who died in September of 1959. A life resident of Shawnee Township, he had been a farmer. He attended Fairview School in Shawnee Township and was a member of the Union Christian Church. Survivors include two sons, Harold of Attica and Hubert of Lafayette; two half-brothers, Oral of Williamsport and Harold of LaHabra, Calif.; three half-sisters, Mrs. Opal Rader of Attica, Mrs. Vivian Trietsch of Sangar, Tex., and Mrs. Joy Nutter of El Monte, Calif.; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. EST Wednesday at the Dale Maus Funeral Home. Burial will be in Union Cemetery East of Aylsesworth. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. - jlr

He was a member of the Union Christian Church.
