GAYDOS, Albert

Hoopeston, Ill.—Albert L. Gaydos, 73, Hoopeston, formerly of Fithian, Ill., died at 12:30 p.m. Friday, June 2, 1989 at his home.
He was born Sept. 2, 1915 at Hillery, Ill., the son of Joseph and Mary Estock Gaydos. He was married Dec. 11, 1939 at Covington to Goldie Nevada Wolfe, who survives.
He was a coal miner for 30 years and was retired from Ayrshire Collieries. He was a member of the U.S. Army’s Third Ranger Battalion during World War II and was captured and held prisoner of war for 15 months. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Hoopeston, where he served as a deacon, the Catlin Masonic Lodge 285, the Ira Owen Kreager American Legion Post 384 of Hoopeston, a life member of the VFW Post of Hoopeston, a life member of the American Prisoners of War and a member of the United Mine Workers.
He enjoyed fishing and gardening.
Surviving besides his wife are a daughter, Mrs. Larry (Vickie) Farrell, Hoopeston; one brother, George, Danville, Ill.; two sisters, Margaret Miller, Danville, and Anne Christenson, Oakwood, Ill.; two grandsons, David Lee and John Michael Farrell and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Monday at Lakeside Funeral Chapel in Danville with the Rev. W. T. Harden officiating. Burial was in Sunset Cemetery with graveside military rites. – thanks to S
