Attica – Mrs. Violet Gardner, age 83 of Attica Rt 3 died at 9:30 a.m. Sunday June 1 at the Community Hospital in Williamsport. She had been ill two years and had been hospitalized since May 16. Mrs. Gardner was born May 14, 1886 in Fairview, the daughter of Hugh and Susan Pelser Pickett. She had lived in Warren County the past five years. She was married in 1905 at Vevay to the Rev. James A. Gardner, a Methodist minister who preceded her in death in 1953. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Mary Foreman of Attica Rt 3; one son, Paul Gardner of Valparaiso; one sister, Mrs. Flora Cleary of Cincinnati, Ohio and one brother, Dobald Pickett of Madison; three grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the DeSutter Funeral Home. The Rev. Eldon Brown officiated. – kbz
