Benjamin Martin Gardner, 86, Ft. Collins, Colo and 2753 S. Knoxville
Way, Denver, Colo died Oct 30 at Swedish Hospital, Denver.  Born April
18, 1 900 near Mellott, son of John William and Elda Beatrice Carpenter
Gardner.  Married Dec 24, 1925 in Wingate to Elizabeth Haxton who
survive s.  US Army during WWI and graduate of Purdue in 1922.  Engaged
in farming in Fountain County and taught school in Mellott.  In 1945,
moved to F t. Collins and was prof of botany at Colorado State Univ
until retired in 1965. Also served in Larimer County Assessor's office
1967-1971.  M ember of United Church of Christ, Mellott; Richland Lodge
205 F&AM and O ES 282, both of Newtown and Cache la Poudre Chapter of
Colorado York Rite of Free Masonry, Ft. Collins. Surviving besides wife,
son and daughter- in-law, Donald M and Eileen Gardner; two daughters and
sons-in-law; Beverly Jean and Wm. L. Sullivan; Mary Eliz and Bert D.
Kinard; 8 grandchildren; two great grandsons and brother, Emery,
Crawfordsville. Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Nov 3. Burial in
Resthaven Memory Garden, Ft. Collin s.
