Nellie B.Gantz, 87, widely acquainted retired Muncie school teacher, died unexpectedly Saturday morning at her residence, 2108 W. Main St, apparently as the result of a heart attack. She was born near Yeddo in Fountain County, graduated from Brazil HS in 1905 and taught school for a time before to Muncie with her husband in 1919. Following the death of her husband, Richard A. Gantz, who was a professor of physiology at Ball State in 1928, she attended Ball State, received her BS in 1934 and later her masters in education. Mrs. Gantz taught at Jefferson Elementary School until her retirement. She was a member of College Avenue United Methodist Church, American Association of University Women and Retired Teachers Association. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Eleanor) Neal, Brazil; Mrs. Cleon (Mary) Gill, Rochester; and Ethel Gantz, Lansing, Mich; a son, John Gantz, Cleveland, Ohio; a sister, Mrs. Ruth Peavey, Jasonville; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
