Covington, Ind.- Nelson John Galloway, 89, of covington, died at 12:30 a.m. today (Apr 18, 1974) at St. Elizabeth Hospital. He had been a patient there a week. Born Sept 2, 1884, in Shawnee Township, Fountain county, he was the son of George and Laura Ward Galloway. On Jan 28, 1915, he married Belle Bantz, who survives. He had resided in Fountain county all his life except for six years in Washington State. A farmer, he retired in 1945. He was one of the organizers of the Fountain county Co-o and of the Fountain County Soil Conservation District. he was on the board of directors and a past president of the Mt. Hope Cemetery Association. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Fountain Lodge 60 F&AM and Troy chapter 145 order of Eastern Star, all of Covington; the Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis; and the Fountain County Farm Bureau. Other survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Gilbert (Emma Eloise) Himebaugh of Evansville and Mrs Read (Georgeanna) Eldred of Manitowoc, Wis; a son; Paul of Covington Route 2; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Bodine and Shelby Funeral Home, with the Rev. P.J. Hamilton and the Rev. Forrest Stickler officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4-9 on Friday. --(thanks, Beth R. for typing)
