GALLIMORE, Marion

Source: Indianapolis News, 19 Feb 1883 p 2

Marion Gallimore of State Line was killed by a switch engine on the W, St L & P Railroad Saturday night. Gallimore had not money enough to pay his fare, lacking 15 cents. The engineer was signalled to stop the train in order that he might be put off. As the train was stopping the caboose gave a sudden lurch, throwing Gallimore from the rear platform where he had gone with the conductor. He fell under the engine attached to the rear end of the train and was instantly killed. Gallimore was intoxicated.  He was a confirmed drunkard and was known as such to all the train men along the Wabash Road. He leaves a wife and three children.
