COVINGTON — Earl L. Fields, 75, Covington, died at 4:56 a.m. June 6, 2002 in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette. He was born May 24, 1927 in Fountain County, the son of Clyde and Virgie Death Fields. He married Jackie Earl, who survives. He graduated from Covington High School. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. He retired from the Covington Postal Service in 1982. He was a 50-year member and past master of the Covington F. & A.M. Lodge #60, Past Commander of the Perrysville American Legion Post #350 and a member of the V.F.W. in Covington. Survivors, besides the wife, include: four daughters, Jean (Larry), Nichols, Muncie, Nancy (Charlie) Harry, Danville, Ill., Rhonda (Don) O'Neal, Linden and Carrie (Will) Largent, Crawfordsville; a son, Randy (Jennifer) Fields, Warminster, Penn.; a brother, John Fields, Covington; a special niece, Mary Baker Decker, Mitchell; 19 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Saturday in Dickerson Funeral Home, Veedersburg, with Pastor Paul Kent officiating. Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Covington. Preferred memorials to the American Diabetes Association. – jlr
