EWBANK, Eldo - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

Dr. Eldo Ewbank, 80, retired Indiana State Dental Associate Secretary - Manager and practicing dentist of Kingman died at 9:25 a.m. Friday March 18, 1955 at his home here. Dr. Ewbank retired from the state position in 1954 after 13 years of active service. He was also an honorary past president of the association and a member of the board of trustees. His lodge affiliations included a 50 year membership in the kIngman Masonic Lodge, Masonic Chapter in Rockville; Masoniic Council of Covington, Commandery at Crawfordsvilleville and Shrine at Terre Haute. Dr. E. suffered a heart attack at his home Monday and on Thursday suffered a second heart attack. He was Kingman's oldest professional man both in years and points of service. Dr. Ewbank had served the comunity as a dentist for 55 years and during that time was active in civic affairs. He was one of the men who was instrumental in organizing the Kingman Band and always took an active intrest in the mucic of the community. He was born March 23, 1874 in Parke County, the son of Lancelot and Mary Ratcliff Ewbank. He married Blanch Hartman of Sidney, Ill Oct 1904. Surviving are a son, Col. Keith Ewbank of Ft Richardson, Al; a daughter, Mrs. Mary Ellen Simpers of Kingman, a sister, Mrs. Ella Eberle of Covington, a grandson John Alden Ewbank of Wentworth Military Academy, Lexington, Missouri. Funeral services were held at the Kingman Methodist Church at 2:30 p.m. Monday with Rev. Guy Smock, minister of the Presbyterian Church, Sidney, Ill officiating. Masonic rites were given at the church and cemetery. Interment was made in Kingman Fraternal Cem with Fishero Funeral Home, Veedersburg in charge,assisted by Mrs.Lucy Davies of Marshall. -- kbz
