Alamo, March 5- The funeral of Jefferson ETTER, who died at his farm home 3 ½ miles southwest of here Friday night were held from the Lutheran Church yesterday afternoon at 2. The services were in charge of Rev. Charles Hunt burial at Alamo Cem. Mr. Etter was 79 years old and had been ill about 8 weeks. He was one of the oldest and most highly respected farmers of this community having lived here practically all his life. He was the son of William and Susan Etter pioneers of this part of the state. Mr. Etter’s parents came to Indiana from Tennessee and first settled in Johnson Co. It was while they were living there in 1835 Jefferson was born. After they had lived a few years in Johnson County they moved to Boone and Jefferson was 19 when they came to Montgomery. They took up a farm in Ripley twp near the Fountain co line and it was on a farm adjacent to this one where his parents first settled that Mr. Etter died. Mr. Etter was always a leader among the farmers in this township and while his death was not unexpected, his passing from this life is looked upon as a loss to the whole community. Mr. Etter was married 3 times his first two wives dying. Those surviving are his wife and six children: LB Etter of New Market; WE Etter; Mrs. David S. Mayers, Mrs. Charles Payton Mrs . Charles Newkirk and Miss Estella Etter of Alamo. There are also 3 sisters; Mrs. Joseph Brown of Seymour; Mrs. Mary J. Hickey of Washington State and Mrs. Amanda Nees of Mo and one brother, Joseph Etter of Alamo.
