HILLSBORO — Harry E. Epperson, 63, of Rt. 3, Veedersburg, a retired musician who had played with "name" bands throughout the country, died Saturday morning in St. Elizabeth Hospital at Danville, Ill. He had been in declining health three years. Born May 23, 1905 in the home in which he lived up to his last illness, he was a son of Wallace and Gertrude Blue Epperson. He was wed Feb. 26, 1940 to Mary A. Hanes at Covington. She survives with his mother and a brother, Carl, all of Rt. 3, Veedersburg. Mr. Epperson was a member of Musicians Union Local 90 at Danville. He was a graduate of Hillsboro High School and attended DePauw University. Funeral services are set for 3 p.m. Tuesday at Crumley-Williams Funeral Home here, with Sarah Kramer the Christian Science reader. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.

Veedersburg – Harry E. Epperson, 63, Rt 3, Veedersburg, died Saturday morning Sept 14 at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Danville, Ill. He had been ill three years. A life resident of the Veedersburg and Hillsboro areas, Mr. Epperson was born May 23, 1905 the son of Wallace and Gertrude Blue Epperson. He was married Feb 26, 1940 to Mary A. Hanes who survives. Other survivors include his mother and a brother, Carl of Rt 3, Veedersburg. A graduate of Hillsboro HS he attended DePauw University, Greencastle. He was a charter member of the Veedersburg City Band. He was a professional musician retiring in 1949. He was a member of Musician’s Local No 90, Danville, Since 1953 he had been engaged in farming in the Veedersburg area. Christian Science services were read by Mrs. Sarah Jane Kramer, Attica at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Crumley-Williams Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hillsboro. – kbz
