ENGLISH, Evelyn Houghland - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

Mrs. Evelyn English, 66, of Covington Route 1 died Mon. Aug. 7, 1978 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville. She had been ill six weeks and hospitalized two weeks. Born Feb. 10, 1912 at her present home Covington Rt. 1 she the daughter of George and Grace Hawkins Houghland. She was married on Feb. 25, 1934 in Veedersburg to Kenneth English. He survives. She had been employed at the Woodland Manor Nursing Center in Attica for the past seven years She was formerly employed by Radio Materials Corporation in Attica; Grab-It-Here Market in Veedersburg, former Tall Trees Nursing Home; and she had opened a kitchen at the north building of the Danville Care. She was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Troy-Wabash Republican Women's Club and Covington Senior Citizens. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Marvin (Martha) Potter of Covington Route 1; a sister, Mrs. Harry (Iva Lois) Stonecipher of Veedersburg Route 4 and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson and brother. Services in the DeVerter Funeral Home in Covington with the Rev. Wayne Hoover officiating. Burial in Rockfield Cemetery in Veedersburg. - jlr
