Claude English, age 75, a retired Rockville businessman and uncle to Kenneth English of Covington died at 2:40 a.m. Sunday March 19 in the VA Hospital in Indianapolis where he had been a patient since Feb 1 when he suffered a heart attack.  Mr. English was born Feb 9, 1892 near Annapolis, Ind in Parke County the son of S. Rolland and Elizabeth Kennedy English.  He was married to Etta Fox of Marshall Jan 2, 1918 and she preceded him in death in October of 1955.  He had managed the commissary at Turkey Run State Park 14 years.  He also had managed the Jungle Park Restaurant and Motel five years and had owned and operated the English Care in Rockville 7 years.  He was a veteran of World War I and was a member of the Fellenzer Post 48 American Legion.  He was a 42-year-member of the Masonic Lodge 648 at Marshall and Marshall Federated Church.  He had attended school in Annapolis and Bloomingdale.  Surviving are one sister, Mrs. Anna Swaim of Rockville; two nieces and three nephews.  He was preceded by his parents, wife, two brothers and one sister.  Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Tudor Funeral Home in Rockville.  The Rev. Freddie Griffith of Danville Ill and Rev. Roger Rankin. Burial was in Popular Grove Cemetery. – kbz

ROCKVILLE – Claude English, 75, died at 2:40 a.m. Sunday in Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Indianapolis where he had been a patient six weeks. Mr. English had managed the commissary at Turkey Run State Park 14 years. He had also managed the Jungle Park Restaurant and Motel five years and had owned and operated the English Cafe in Rockville seven years. He was a veteran of World War I. He was a member of the Fellenzer Post 48 American Legion at Rockville, the Masonic Lodge 648 at Marshall and the Marshall Federated Church. He had attended school at Annapolis and Bloomingdale. A native of Parke. County, he was born Feb. 9, 1892, a son of Rolland and Elizabeth Kennedy English. He was married to Etta Fox Jan. 2, 1918. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Tudor Funeral Home in Rockville with Rev. Freddie Griffit of Danville, Ill., and Rev. Roger Rankin officiating.
