PROMINENT YEDDO RESIDENT IS DEAD
Elmer Elwell, one of the widely known and highly respected men of this county, died suddently at his home at Yeddo Sunday morning. He had been in ill health for some time past suffering with heart trouble. He had gone to the field to look after some of his farm equipment when he was stricken. Before he could be returned to his home, death had taken him. The deceased was 64 year of age and was born near Yeddo on August 24th 1869, the son of Sylvester and Martha Elwell. He spent thirteen years at Washington, D.C., where he was employed in the supply division of the United States Post Office Department. Previous to that time he had served for eight years as deputy auditor of Fountain county when his father was serving as county auditor. He was married to Miss Emma Slattery of Covington in 1890 and for many years past has been a member of the Yeddo Masonic lodge where he served as secretary. He is survived by two sons Charles and Frank, both living at Highland Park, Ill., and there are two sisters, Miss Ada Elwell of Yeddo and Mrs. Pearl Banta of Crawfordsville. The funeral services were conducted from the home Tuesday afternoon with burial at the Centennial Cemetery. Rev. Bennett Fulp officiated with funeral arrangements in charge of Fred Parham.
