Elrod, 89, of Covington, formerly of Indianapolis, died at 5:11 p.m. Friday,
September 8, 2000 at the waters of
Covington. Born November 17, 1910 in Calvert City, Kentucky, she was the
daughter of the late Henry B. and Bessie Beatrice (Phelps) Holland. Her
marriage was to French Elrod. He preceded her in death on April 28, 1985. Mrs.
Elrod was a graduate of Western Kentucky Teachers College. She was a school
teacher in Franklin Twp. (in Indianapolis) Schools, 30 years, retiring in 1985.
She was a member of Edgewood United Methodist Church, Indianapolis; past worthy
matron of the Acton Chapter #173 0.E.S., and member Gideon’s Auxiliary.
Surviving, are: one son, Robert (Beverly) Elrod of Indianapolis; two daughters,
Carolyn (Fred) Lloyd of Covington and Marilyn Elrod of Danville, Ill.; seven
grandsons and three great-grandchildren. Visitation was Tuesday at G. H. Herrmann
Madison Avenue Funeral Home, Indianapolis. Service on Wednesday at Edgewood
United Methodist Church. Entombment in Washington Park East Cemetery,
Indianapolis. – jlr
