Robert Eugene
Ellmore, 74, of Covington, died at 3 a.m. Tuesday, October 31, 2000 at his
residence. Born on January 29, 1926 in Danville, Illinois, he was the son of
the late Heber and Virginia Ruth (Potter) Ellmore. He was a life resident of
Covington and attended Covington schools, leaving his junior year to enlist in
the U. S. Navy during World War II. Bob was a member of Orchard Hills Church of
Christ and VFW Post #2395. He was a former owner of the Tastee Freeze,
Benjamin’s and Lindee’s restaurants in Covington for a total of 32 years. His
marriage was to Deloris Stoup on March 9, 1952 in Danville. She survives. Also
surviving, are: a daughter, Bobby (Clay) Gerling of Covington; a daughter-in-law,
Barbara (Jack) Macy of Covington; a sister, Virginia (Bud) Smith of Covington;
a brother, Tom H. (Linda) Ellmore of Danville; three grandsons, Ryan (Megan)
Ellmore, Matthew Gerling and Adam Gerling, and two granddaughters, Ashlee
Gerling and Hillary Macy, all of Covington. He was also preceded in death by a
son, Gary Ellmore. Visitation at Shelby Funeral Home, Covington, from 4-8 p.m.
on Thursday. Service there on Friday at 2 p.m. with Pastor Paul Kent
officiating. Interment in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Covington. Memorials may be made
to Orchard Hills Church of Christ. – jlr & to D&M also
