A hunting accident on Tuesday claimed the life of Wendell Ellis, 17 years old of Cates in the Hoagland woods near Yeddo. He and two companions of the same age were hunting and Wendell was shot in the left temple, presumably by another hunger, dying about 2:40 p.m. in Robert Long Hospital, several hours afterward. Sewell Mitchell 56 years old of Kingman route fired at a squirrel but failed to hit it and as he moved his position he found young Mills lying wounded on the ground. Mitchell called for help and his cries brought Mills’ hunting companions, Billy Bowling and Richard Baker. The wounded boy was taken to Kingman for medical attention and then in the Spencer ambulance to Crawfordsville but because of his critical condition was carried on to the Robert Long medical center, his father, mother and two brothers accompanying him. Sheriff George W. Keller was notified at Covington and started an investigation. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Cates EUB Church with burial in the Kingman Fraternal cemetery. – kbz =Rest In Peace young man – so sorry this happened to you ☹
