Virgil Thomas Ellis, 74 of Ladoga died Saturday monring in Culver Hospital at Crawfordsville. He had been in failing health several weeks. Mr. Ellis who would have 76 next Thursday is a former employee of Crawfordsville Electric Light & Power having retired in 1968. Before working the utility company, he was employed by Cleveland Bakery at Crawfordsville. Since his retirement at CELP he had worked part time at the Ladoga Locker plant. Born Jan 18, 1891, in Fountain County, he was a son of Robert Samuel and Minnie Riley Ellis. He attended schoola t alamo and was graduated from Alamo HS. On Dec 24, 1912, he was married to Sylvia Mabel Keys. She died Aug 1, 1963. He was a member of the Methodist Church at Hillsboro and Masonic and Modern Woodmen lodges both here. Surviving are two sons, Kenneth of Marion and Lester of Linnsburg, a sister, Mrs. Fred Hudson of Sarasota, FL; 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Hunt & Son Funeral Home at Crawfordsville. Interment will be in Masonic Cemetery at Waynetown. Friends may pay their respects at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Sunday. Masonic rites will be conducted at the funeral home Monday evening. The time for Masonic rites has not yet been set.
