The Rev. Thomas Linton, of Lebanon, pastor of the Prairie Chapel Church of near Hillsboro, officiated at the funeral service held at the church Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. for Mrs. Sarah Alma Ellis, 81, who died at the Culver Hospital in Crawfordsville Thursday afternoon July 25. Mrs. Ellis had been making a visit with her son Mr. and Mrs. Evans Ellis, of Indianapolis, when she was taken ill and was removed to the Crawfordsville hospital.
Mrs. Pearl Hall presided at the piano for the music for the service and the pall bearers were: Homer Shelley, of Indianapolis; Charles Humphreys, George Hesler, Guy Stockdale, Donald Moore and Darrell Jones, who also acted as flower bearers. Burial was in the Masonic Cemetery at Waynetown.
Mrs. Sarah Ann Ellis, was born near Rockville, Ind. on December 13, 1875, the daughter of William Henry and Lockey Brown Wright. The greater part of her life was spent in the vicinity of Hillsboro having come here in 1897. She was married to Alva Ellis, of Hillsboro on Dec. 4, 1898 and he preceded her in death in 1927.
She was a member of the Prairie Chapel Christian Church and a charter member of the Ladies Aid Organization which was organized in 1902 and has been an active, member all these years.
Mrs. Ellis is survived by two sons, Evans Ellis, of Indianapolis; Verlin Ellis of the Steam Comer neighbor
hood and one daughter Mrs. Mary Frances Daly, of Indianapolis; six grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
