COVINGTON — John Thomas Elliott, 66, 816 Second St., Covington, died at 8:10 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2000 in St. Vincent Williamsport Hospital. He was born July 21, 1934 in McLeansboro, Ill., the son of Carl and Hattie Hart Elliott. He married Deloris A. Hayden Aug. 25, 1956 in Covington. She survives. He was a Navy veteran of Korea and a resident of Covington since 1956. He was a member of First Church of Christ and V.F.W. Post #2395. He was a private pilot and enjoyed playing the guitar. Survivors, besides the wife, include: a daughter, Kathy (Stanley) Gross, Woodstock, Ga.; a son, Tom (Karyn) Elliott, Carmel; two brothers, Wendell (Doris) Elliott, Sidney, Mont. and his twin, Joe (Louise) Elliott, Covington; a granddaughter, Candice Gross; three grandsons, Derek Elliot, Jackson Elliott and Grant Elliott; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Carl Elliott and Norman Elliott. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Friday in Shelby Funeral Home, Covington, with Randy Walters officiating. Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Covington. Military services were conducted at the grave. – jlr
