John W. Ehrie, 63, Kingman, died at 9:50 p.m. Thursday, July 28, at Culver Hospital. He became ill July 14. Mr. Ehrie had been a Fountain County farmer all his life. He was born near Wallace, the son of Michael and Catherine Ehrie, on Nov. 8, 1882. He married Anna E. Wakeland on Feb. 1, 1923, in Mellott. He is survived by the widow, six sons, Charles Ehrie of Lafayette, Dennis Ehrie of Bedford Park, Ill., Michael Ehrie of Chicago Heights, Ill., Wesley Ehrie of Perrysville Road, Jack Ehrie, with the Army in Germany, and William Ehrie of Kingman and six daughters, Rosemary Covault of Attica, Julia Harshbarger of Waynetown, Patricia Dixon of Crawfordsville, Norma Hart of Whitesville, Shirley Gill of Kingman and Martha Ehrie of Kingman. He is also survived by two step-daughters, Irene Junk of Logansport, and Frances Foxworthy of Hillsboro, by 31 grandchildren and two great grandchildren, and three sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Murdock of Wingate, Mrs. Julia McCollum of Wingate and Mrs. Mary Lukas of Chicago. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Margaret Ehrie, in 1924, one son, Corporal John T. Ehrie, in 1945, and one stepson, Sgt. Donald H. Gott, in 1943. The funeral will be Sunday, July 31 at 2 p.m. in the Crumley Funeral Home in Hillsboro, with Rev. Guy T. Walters officiating. Friends may call after 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
