Veedersburg—William R. “Shorty” Duvall, 69, Route 4, Veedersburg, died at 6:27 p.m. Saturday, April 1, 1989, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Indianapolis.

  He was born Aug. 15, 1919 in Grenlock, N. J., the son of William R. and Catherine M. Marron Duvall. He was married Jan. 25, 1958 in Veedersburg to Vivian I. Dobbs, who survives.

  He was a veteran of World War II. He retired from Gallo Winery in Modesto, Calif., in 1976, where he had been employed as an electrician. He was a member of American Legion Post 288 in Veedersburg and attended Prairie Creek Baptist Church.

  Surviving besides his wife are a son, Danny, Edmonton, Ky.; Janice Smith, and Wanda Crumpton, both of Edmonton; one stepson, Jay T. Kell, Tilton, Ill.; one stepdaughter, Janet Page, Modesto; two brothers, Richard and Paul, both of New Jersey; five sisters, Estelle Andrews, Port Arthur, Texas; and Joan Doyle, Betty Wills, Helen Garrison and Ruth Lubonski, all of New Jersey; eight grandchildren; four step grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.

  Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Dickerson Funeral Home, Veedersburg, with the Rev. Harry Hybarger officiating. Burial will be in Rockfield Cemetery, Veedersburg. – thanks to S
