Mrs. Edith P. Duncan, 79, was pronounced dead on arrival at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday (Oct. 6, 1976) at Lakeview Medical Center, after being stricken ill at her home, 1622 N. Gilbert. She had been ill two years. A graduate of Lakeview School of Nursing, Mrs. Duncan had been director of nurses at the former Vermilion County TB sanitarium. Mrs. Duncan was a member of the Central Christian Church and the Iris Chapter Order of the Eastern Star. Born Feb. 21, 1897, in Rileysburg, Ind., she was a daughter of William F. and Sarah E. Sparks Clem. She was married to James A. Duncan on Sept. 6, 1921, in Potomac. He died May 4, 1970. A daughter also preceded her in death. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Jack R. (Patricia) Shelato of Danville; two brothers, A. Ross Clem of Cincinnati, Ohio, and William Merle Clem of North Canton, Ohio; three sisters, Mrs. Ruth Hoskins of Danville, Mrs. Ruby Sellers of Palm Beach, Fla., and Mrs. Thelma Young of Princeton, N.J., three grandsons and one great-granddaughter. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Lakeside Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Nelson Scott officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
