Word has been received in Hillsboro of the accidental death of Wilbur Duke, 69, of Freeport, Texas, who was born and reared
in this vicinity. He was killed Monday at 3:30 p.m. when his car was struck by a train according to the message received. Mr. Duke suffered a brain concussion and the car was entirely demolished.
Mr. Duke was born June 7, 1890 the son of Charles and Jennie Gregg Duke on a farm southeast of Hillsboro. He was married to Miss Ethel Anderson, who preceded him in death a few years.
He has been a resident of Texas for the past 40 years first residing in Galveston and then to Velasco, which was recently annexed to Freeport. He was a retired electrician.
Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Donald Ross; a granddaughter and two sisters, Mrs. Grace Minnich of Crawfordsville and Mrs. Cecil Myer of Hillsboro. Funeral service and burial were held at Freeport Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. Minnich accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Paul Fishero of Crawfordsville attended the funeral. - jz
