Alva (Al) Doton, 76, 117 west Spring Street, died Thursday morning at Culver Hospital. He had been in failing health several months and critically ill three weeks with a heart ailment. Born March 4, 1871 in Fountain County, Mr. Dotson was the son of Elijah and Emily Stites Dotson. He married Jeanette Harrel Aug 12, 1893 at the Harrell residence in Crawfordsville. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge. Surviving are the widow; one daughter, Mrs. Hazel Youngman of Kokomo, a sister, Miss Teenie Dotson of Covington; one grandson, Kenneth J. Alexander, a student at Indiana University and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon at the Proffitt & Sons Funeral Home with burial in the Weir cemetery. Rev. John Servies will be the officiating minister. Also participating in the rites will be the Eagles Lodge which will give its burial service. Friends may pay their respects at the late residence, 117 Spring Street from 10:30 a.m. Friday until noon Saturday.
