Wingate—Iona Dooley, 91, 2001 Meadow court, Crawfordsville, formerly of Wingate, died at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, 1989 in Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis.
She was born Oct. 1, 1897, in the New Richmond area, the daughter of Hugh and Emogene Bannon Jackson. She was married Feb. 2, 1915 to Luther Dooley of New Richmond, who preceded her in death June 26, 1950.
She attended Elmdale School. She was employed as a housekeeper at the Indiana School of the Blind at Indianapolis, retiring in 1959.
She was a member of Center Christian Church of Elmdale and Center Help Society.
Surviving are two sons, the Rev. Hugh, Crawfordsville, and Richard, Indianapolis; three daughters, Mrs. Ethel Stevens and Mrs. Phyllis Meharry, both of Brownsburg, and Mrs. Virginia McIntosh, Indianapolis; 16 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She was also preceded in death by a son, Donald, a brother and a sister.
Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Thomas Funeral Home, Waynetown, with the Rev. Edward Dooley officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery north of Elmdale. – thanks to s
