COVINGTON — Norman Divan, 64, of rural Covington died at 7:15 a.m. Friday Oct. 1, 1999 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota. He was born Feb. 9, 1935 near Danville, Ill. the son of John Benjamin and Margaret Lorraine (Fletcher) Divan. He married Sandra Lawhorn June 7, 1969 at Newtown, Ill. she survives. He graduated from Oakwood Illinois High School. He had been a resident of the Rabb area south of Covington 25 years and a former resident of Oakwood, Ill. He was a member of Coopers Chapel Church and a former member of the Masonic Lodge and Gao Grotto. He had been employed at Naaco Hyster 39 years, retiring in December 1997. Survivors include: mother, Margaret Divan, Bismarck; sons, James Anthony (Patricia) Divan, Atlanta, Ga., Mark Alan (Valerie) Divan, Kauii, Hawaii; step children, Teresa Pollock and Robert Pollock, Covington; foster children, James (Kathy) Lawhorn, Catlin, Ill., Ellen (Andrew) Tedesco, Covington; brothers, Rev. Dennis (Janice) Divan, Sidell, Ill. John Michael (Josephine) Divan, Alvin, Ill; three grandchildren; two step grandchildren; four foster grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father. Funeral services were 11 a.m. Monday at Shelby Funeral Home with Rev. James Shaw officiating. Burial in Mt. Hope Cemetery. – jlr
