DILLON, Rufus - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

Rufus Dillon son of Charles and Almaretta Dillon, April 3, 1888.  He was one of four children. Henderson and Logan still living and Ethel, who died in infancy.  His family moved to Indiana when he was 17 years of age, settling on a farm just north of Kingman and he made Fountain County his home for the rest of his life.  On Dec 1, 1912 Rufus married Inez Elizabeth Towell and to this union were born four children: Thelma; Reva; Harold and Clark.  Although  he and his wife had held membership elsewhere they placed their membership with that of their children in the New Century Church of the United Brethren in Christ near Veedersburg in the winter of 1933 under the pastorage of Rev. Bennett Fulp.  His membership  still remains there. Mother Dillon preceded him to her reward April 21 1936. On April 23, 1938 he was united in marriage to Adah Keller of Kingman. Rufus died July 30, 1946 at his home in Yeddo, Ind at the age of 58 years three months and 27 days. Surviving him are his wife, Adah at Yeddo and the children, Mrs. Thelma Clawson of Veedersburg; Mrs. Rev Fulp of Anderson;  Harold Dillon of Veedersburg; Clark Dillon, Kingman and the two brothers; Henderson Dillon of Ridgefarm, Ill and Logan Dillon of Kingman, Ind.  There are also five stepchildren; Dwight Keller, Kingman; Twiliah Roper, Duquoin, Ill; Cellestine Smith, Perryville, Jane Cadman of Perrysville; Darrol Keller of the US Navy. Rufus also leaves 8 grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; two aunts; one uncle; several nephews and nieces and a host of friends.  Rufus made many friends.  That characteristic in him which made him accept his stepchildren as his own, made him friends where he was known. To those of us who who have grown accustomed to him in our presence it is harder than we can express to tell how very much we can express, to tell how very much we shall miss him but we humbly love bow our heads to God and saylk That will be done!”
