Mrs. Jennie Lou Diehl, age 55, died Sunday morning Feb 22 at 4:10 o’clock of cancer in her home at Newtown. She had been ill for about a year. She was born Sept 25, 1886 in Kentucky, the daughter of James and Delilah Jane Walden. She was married to Charles Diehl in Feb 1905. She was a member of the Newtown Presbyterian Church. Surviving besides her husband are: two daughters, Mrs. Hazel Gear and Mrs. Martha Bowles, both of Newtown; a son, Frank of Gary; two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Poney and Mrs. Bessie Fairfield of Crawfordsville; two brothers, Arthur and William Walden, also of Crawfordsville and five grandchildren. The body was taken to the home Monday afternoon from the Crumley Funeral Home in Covington. Private funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the home in Newtown with Rev. John Kirkpatrick in charge Burial was in the Union Cemetery west of Newtown.
