Courtney W. Dice, nearly years of age and for years one the leading lawyers of Fountain County until his retirement in 1945 died at 1:20 a.m. Wednesday Feb 20 in Lake View Hospital, Danville, Ill.  He had been hospitalized a week ago but had been in ill health the last five years.  Courtney William Dice was born April 21, 1872 the son of William and Kate B. Jones Dice whose family home was south of Veedersburg.  He was married on May 11, 1903 to Miss Helen Allen of Covington who died Oct 16, 1944.  He survived by a daughter, Miss Catherine Dice and one son, William Alice Dice both of Covington.  He was a graduate of the old Covington Normal, attended Ohio State University and was graduated from University of Michigan Law School in 1896 and immediately began his law practice in Covington.  He had been a associated in the law with V. Livengood and Lucas Nebeker both deceased and in late years before Mr. Rice’s retirement Ward Williams of Covington had been associated with him.  Mr. Dice was a member of Fountain Lodge, No 60 F&AM, Covington since 1900 and the Eastern Star and Methodist Church of Covington and also the Elks order at Crawfordsville. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the family residence on Fourth Street conducted by Rev. George Beatty of Alamo and Rev. Homer Farthing, pastor of the Covington Methodist Church with interment in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Masonic committal rites will be held by Fountain Lodge at the cemetery.- kbz
