COVINGTON — Lenora B. Dewlen,
91, Covington, died at 10:18 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2007 in The Waters of
Covington. She was born Sept. 9, 1915 in Wabash Township, south of Covington,
the daughter of Don and Eva (Brewer) Berto. She married Francis A. Dewlen March
5, 1933. He preceded in death Sept. 6, 1991. She was a clerk at Sprague
Department Store in Covington and Myers Department Store in Veedersburg. She
was a member of First Baptist Church, the Covington Home Demonstration Club for
50 years, Royal Neighbors of America for 50 years, and the Fountain County
Democratic Club. She was a Democratic precinct committee woman for many years
and served on the absentee voter board. She volunteered at The Waters of
Covington and with the share program several years. Survivors include: a
granddaughter, Sarah Keller Taflinger, Charleston, Ill. and two
great-grandsons. She was preceded in death by her daughter and son-in-law,
Donna and Norman Hughes; her parents; a brother; and three sisters. Funeral
services were at 11 a.m. Saturday in Shelby Funeral Home, Covington, with Joe
Humrichous officiating. Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Covington. Memorials
may be made to the Covington Community Foundation or Florida Children's Home,
19430 Melody Fair Place, Lutz, Fla. 33558 with envelopes available at the
