William H. Derringer, age 78, of 20 Grace St., Danville, Ill., father of Ray and Chris Derringer of Covington, died at 5:10 a.m. Monday, Jan 27, in Lakeview Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient four days following a stroke. Mr. Derringer was born Dec 10, 1885, in Paris, Ill., the son of Christopher and Sarah Ellen Derringer. He was formerly an oil jobber for 15 years and the past 15 years had been in the real estate business as a salesman in Illinois, and a broker in Indiana. He was married June 6, 1907, in Catlin, Ill., to Nellie Frazee, who survives. He was formerly a member of the Masonic Lodge at Georgetown and the Danville Gao Grotto. Mr. Derringer was a member of the First Church of Christ of Covington and the Fountain and Warren County, Real Estate Board, Surviving, in addition to his wife, are; seven children, Ray of Covington, Roscoe of Williamsport, William of Lafayette, Mrs. Newton(Mabel) Brown of Hillsboro, Chris of Covington, Mrs. Elmer (Alice) Robbins of Williamsport and Mrs. L.D. (Maxine) Crisp of Perrysville; one sister, Mrs. Olive Lease of Danville, Ill, 18 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister. Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock this afternoon, Jan 29, at the Barrick and Son Funeral Home in Danville. The Rev. Jack Bennett officiated and burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
