DERRINGER, Raymond E. - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

Raymond E. Derringer of Covington, age 74, died Friday evening, October 15, in Lakeview Medical Center at Danville, Illinois. He was born at Danville, Illinois, October 15, 1908, the son of William and Nell Frazee Derringer. April 29, 1928, he married Ruby Cornelius, who survives.

  Mr. Derringer was a Covington City Council member for eight years and was Marathon Oil Company distributor in Covington for many years. A 1926 graduate of Covington High School, he was director of WVWV Radio in Covington, secretary of Covington Lions Club for ten years, a member of Knights of Pythias and the Parke County Camera Club.

  Also surviving are a daughter, Joan Jurney of Tipton; three sisters, Mabel Brown of Hillsboro, Alice Robbins of Williamsport and Maxine Crisp of Perrysville; three brothers, Roscoe of rural Williamsport, Bill of Lafayette and Chris of Covington; and one grandson.

  Funeral services were held Monday morning at Bodine and Shelby Funeral Home in Covington with Rev. Robert H. Miller officiating. Burial was in Mount Hope Cemetery at Covington. – thanks so much to “S”
