“United in life; inseparable in death.”  These words would furnish a fitting epitaph for the monument that will some time mark the last resting place of Samuel Demrick and wife in the little cemetery at Newton.  Mrs. Demrick (sic) died on last Sunday morning at 11:45 o’clock.  At the time she passed away her husband was lying in a critical condition.  Preparations were made for the burial of the wife and it was expected to hold the funeral yesterday.  But it was necessary to make a change in the arrangements because of the death of the husband and now the place is for a double funeral. The friends will leave the family residence at 10:30 o’clock this morning and will go to the Baptist Church in Newtown where services will be held at 11 o’clock by Rev. Mr. Hanson.  The interment will be made in the Newtown cemetery both caskets to occupy the same graveside by side.  Samuel Demirick one of the most highly and esteemed citizens of Newtown passed citizens of Newtown, passed away on Monday night at 9:50 o’clock after an illness of short duration.  His death was caused by a complication of pleurisy and heart trouble.  Had he been permitted to live nine days longer he would have celebrated the 72nd anniversary of his birth.  The remaining members of the family are a son and daughter.  Mrs. Margaret Brown the daughter is lying critically ill at her home in Newtown. She remained in the sick room of her parents until she was compelled to leave them to take treatment for neuralgia of the heart.  Her condition on Monday was so grave that her death was momentarily expected but there was a slight improvement yesterday and it is possible that she will recover - kbz

A remarkable coincidence was completed yesterday by the death of Mrs. TJ Brown at her home two miles north of Newtown.  Her death is the third that has taken place in the family circle within the last four days.
Mrs. Samuel Demrick died on Sunday morning at 11:45 o’clock at her home in Newtown.  At the time of her death her husband and her daughter, Mrs. Brown were critically ill.  Arrangements were made to bury Mrs. Demrick on Tuesday morning. The death of her husband at 9:50 o’clock Monday night made it necessary to defer the funeral and the husband and wife were interred in the same grave in the Newtown cemetery yesterday.  The services were conducted in the Newtown Baptist Church at 11 o’clock and were largely attended.  The funeral address was delivered by the pastor of the church, Rev Mr. Hanson. Mrs. TJ Brown was taken ill with pneumonia the disease that caused the death of her parents on last Friday. She had not been feeling well for some time and the anxiety and care caused by the illness of her parents hastened her prostration. She remained at their bedside until she was too ill to remain at her post and was taken to her home two miles north of the village.  Her death took place yesterday afternoon at 2 o’clock.  A husband and one son, Fred Brown aged 16 years survive.  Her brother, Winfield Scott Demrick is now the only surviving member of his family.  Mrs. Brown was 39 years old and was reared in the community in which she died.  She was a member of the United Brethren Church and was a most estimable woman.  She was devoted to her family and was a kind neighbor and friend.  The sympathy of the community is extended to the surviving members of the families that have suffered so much affliction and sorrow within the last four days.  The funeral of Mrs. Brown will be conducted from the Green Bay United Brethren church tomorrow morning at 10 o’clock.  Rev. Mr. Zook officiating.  Interment will be made in the cemetery adjoining the church. - kbz
