Covington – Mrs. Ruth Hetfield DeHaven, age 87 of Crescent City Fla a former resident of Covington died early Thursday morning Aug 22 in Florida. She had been in failing health several years. Mrs. DeHaven was born Oct 29, 1880 the daughter of Alex and Sarah Robinson Hetfield. She attended Covington schools and was graduated from Covington High School in 1899. She was married to Alva Lawrence DeHaven who preceded her in death Jan 9, 1959. The DeHavens left Covington in 1954 returning to Florida where they previously had lived. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Henry (Mary Charlotte) Gocio of Crescent City Fla; two married grandsons and several great grandchildren. The late Mrs. George P (Grace) Schwin was a sister. Miss Sarah Schwin of Covington, Mrs. Robert Burgner of Veedersburg and Mrs. Daivd (Zola) Soup of Virginia are nieces and George Schwin of Rockville, John Schwin of Deerfield Beach, Fla and Floyd DeHaven of Covington Rt are nephews. The body will be cremated in Florida and the ashes will be brought to Covington for burial in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Graveside rites will be conducted here at a later date. The Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home of Covington is in charge of the arrangements. - kbz
