George Jackson DeHaven 75, died at 6:50 o’clock this morning at his h9ome, 1097 Agard Ave, Benton Harbor where he had been in a coma since May 10. He had been in ill health for more than four years and seriously ill three weeks immediately preceding his death. Mr. DeHaven was born in Fountain County, Indiana May 8, 1875. The greater part of his life was spent near Covington, Ind where he was engaged in farming for many years. He came to Michigan about 18 years ago and had been partially retired since that time. Surviving him are his wife, Helen M, and five children: Mrs. OM Ratcliff of Muncie, Ind; Roy DeHaven, Benton Harbor; Robert DeHaven, Little Rock, Ark; Edward DeHaven, Minneapolis Minn and George DeHaven, Battle Creek. One brother, Edward lives in Kansas City, Mo. Eight grandchildren and one great grandchild also survive. A prayer service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Florin Funeral Home with Rev. Glenn M. Frye of the Methodist Peace Temple officiating. The body will then be taken to the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home in Covington, Ind where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in the family lot in Prescott Cemetery at Covington. Friends may call at the Florin Funeral home. – kbz

George DeHaven, resident of Fountain County most of his life died Wednesday morning at his home in Benton Harbor, Michigan at the age of 76. He had been in failing health and died following a stroke of paralysis. The DeHaven family lived in both Veedersburg and Covington and the last yeaers in Benton Harbor. Surviving is the wife, Helen Hall DeHaven, 4 sons Roy of Benton Harbor; Robert of Little Rock; Edward of Rochester, Minn; George Jr of Battle Creek and a daughter, Mrs. Lois Ratcliff of Muncie; 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. The body will be returned to Covington for burial on Friday afternoon with short services at the Bodine Funeral Home in Covington at 2 p.m. – kbz
