Hubert C. DeAth, 71 of Mellott, died Monday afternoon Dec 10 at the Cold Springs Road Veterans Hospital in Indianapolis where he had been a patient the past two weeks. He had been in ill health for several years and death was due to pneumonia. Funeral rites were held at __ p.m. Thursday from the Congregational Christian Church in Mellott with Rev. Guy T. Walters in charge. Military rites at the grave will be conducted by the grave will be conducted by the Hillsboro Memorial Post, American Legion with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hillsboro. Mr. DeAth was the son of Millard S. and Elizabeth Campbell DeAth and was born on a farm near Veedersburg March 8, 1880. He was married to Jessie Rice, Mellott on May 27, 1902. He has been a resident of Mellot for the past 30 years and was engaged in farming until his recent illness. He was a member of the Congregational Christian Church in Mellott and a World War I veteran. Survivors are the widow, the mother, two daughters, Mr. Ira Cooper of Crawfordsville and Mrs. Walter Davis of Indianapolis; a son, Robert DeAth of near Veedesrburg; a brother, Everett DeAth of near Veedersburg; sister Mrs. Marie Coats, Veedersburg; 8 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. – kbz
