Mrs. Elizabeth Sarah DeAth, 93, and one of Veedersburg’s oldest and best known women died Saturday evening at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville where she had been a patient since Monday after suffering from a fractured hip and shoulder from a fall at her home on the preceding Sunday night. She was born Oct 3, 1860 on a farm in the Salem community northwest of Veedersburg the daughter of Andrew and Caroline Wentworth Campbell.  She was married Jan 18, 1877 to Millard S. DeAth and spent most of their lives on the farm.  In 1919 Mr. and Mrs. DeAth moved to Veedersburg where Mr. DeAth died in 1940.  She was a member of the Veedersburg Christian Church and life member of Dorcas Temple Pythian Sisters in Hillsboro.  Surviving is a daughter, Mrs. Marie Coats of Veedersburg and a son, Evertt who lives on a farm near Veedersburg, 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.  Preceding her in death were two sons, Hugh and Fred.  Services were held Tuesday afternoon at the family residence with Richard Owen officiating.  Burial was in Osborn Prairie cemetery with Fishero Funeral Home in charge. – kbz
